How do you know if I am the right doula for you?
It is important to find a doula who feels right for you. Someone you feel comfortable and at ease with. They will be with you during one of the most incredible, life-changing and intimate moments of your life. I offer a free 30 minute clarity call to anyone who would like to meet me in person or online to help you to decide if I am the doula for you.
Everyone will have different priorities when finding the doula who is right for them. For some it may feel that experience is the key priority, others may place more importance on their gut feeling when they meet someone, or the values that they share with that person.
Doulas continue to develop throughout their time supporting families, there is no end to the learning. We grow and learn with every client we support, so there is no right and wrong about who you choose, provided they feel like the right person for you.
It is my absolute passion and privilege to offer my support to families as they prepare for birth, during labour and birth, and during the early postnatal period. In addition to my private work, I offer my doula services to disadvantaged clients through my involvement in charitable doula support services.

Postnatal Doula Support
As with my birth clients, I offer emotional, practical and informational support to the family. This can include, but is not limited to, light housework, looking after your baby whilst you (and perhaps your partner) catch up on sleep, helping with older siblings, walking your dog or whatever will allow your family to relax and have a positive experience with your baby.
If you decide to breastfeed, I can support you with this. I am a university qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor and have extensive breastfeeding knowledge and experience.
As a mother of six children myself, I am aware of how overwhelming parenting decisions can feel. My role can include giving you the opportunity to talk through decisions you might be struggling with, in an environment free from judgement or opinion.

Birth doulas provide support through labour and birth. They meet their clients during pregnancy, getting to know them and their wishes for their birth experience. A birth doula can be present in addition to, or instead of, a birth partner.
Postnatal doulas provide support after the birth and help the new parents to transition to parenthood.
They may meet their client before the birth, or be engaged after the baby has been born. Postnatal doulas work with the family to support them in the ways they need as they find their way with parenting their baby.
Evidence shows that doulas bring many benefits to the birthing person and their partner, including:
* a reduced need for opioid and epidural pain management during labour.
* a reduced chance of requiring instrumental birth or unplanned caesarean birth.
* a reduced rate of induction of labour
* a shorter labour
* a more positive birth experience for the parents
* an increased likelihood of initiating, establishing breastfeeding, and continuing breastfeeding.
* a reduced chance of postnatal depression
* improved equity and culturally responsive care
